Lakers Set to Host Niagara County CC this Saturday at Home

CANANDAIGUA – The Lakers will return to the field on Saturday as they are scheduled to faceoff with the Niagara County CC Thunderwolves at home beginning at 1 pm. Finger Lakes, wearing a 3-6 record, enters Saturday coming off of a large victory in its most recent contest. On Tuesday, Mar. 26, the Lakers, behind seven Jack Timerson goals, downed Mohawk Valley CC in a home meeting by the score of 23-3.

Both teams have met three times since the 2006 season. Of those three meetings, the Lakers have been victorious twice. They both last met on Mar. 28, 2012, at the home of the Thunderwolves. In that matchup, Finger Lakes dethroned Niagara County 16-8. Former Laker Joshua Taylor ('12) led Finger Lakes in scoring with seven goals in that game. Timerson, along with other current Lakers Corey Roed and Robert Pelkey, each chipped in offensively. Timerson produced a hat-trick, while Roed and Pelkey each poured in one goal apiece in the win. In goal, John Perrucci tended the net for 57 minutes for Finger Lakes all while accumulating 11 saves.

For the Lakers, they will look to continue to ride the hot stick of Timerson on Saturday. On the season, the sophomore attackman has produced 32 goals (second most in the nation) and 9 assists. Following him in the scoring column for the Lakers are Pelkey (22 goals, 7 assists), Albert Thompson (11 goals, 10 assists), and Parker Weeks (5 goals, 15 assists). Meanwhile, leading the way in net for the Lakers this season has been Perrucci. The second-year player has been impressive with his play on the field. Overall, he currently stands atop of the nation in saves as he has collected 148 stops in Finger Lakes first nine games.  

As for the Thunderwolves, Jed Hebelein and Steven Keefer sit atop of the goal-scoring charts for the visitors. Both players share the team lead in goals with three apiece. Hebelein, in addition to sharing team-high honors in goals scored, leads Niagara County in the passing department with his two assists. Coming into the weekend, the Thunderwolves will enter play with a 1-3 record.
