Lakers Fall to Hawks

Utica, NY - The Finger Lakes Community College men's soccer team fell to undefeated Mohawk Valley Community College on Wednesday, 2-0. The Lakers (1-6) kept the Hawks in check throughout most of the game, trailing them 1-0 until late in the second half. FLCC goalie Jared Coates (Mendon) along with the defense played a strong and competitive game. Mohawk Valley capitalized on their first goal shortly after a corner kick was cleared out by FLCC. A Hawks attacker regained possession of the ball after the corner kick was cleared out, resulting in a goal that found the upper right corner of the net.  The Lakers had an opportunity to score in the early second half when Perry Mortensen (Rushville) missed on a header. Mohawk Valley added there second goal late in the game on a mishap by FLCC.

The Lakers will be back in action on Monday, September 19th on the road at Erie Community College.
