Men’s Soccer – FLCC Falls to GCC on Road, 8-Nil

BATAVIA, NY. – Finger Lakes traveled to the home of the nation's second ranked team yesterday to take on the Genesee CC Cougars in a 5:00 p.m. showdown. The Cougars, entering the game supporting an overall record of 7-1, would add to their win column by beating the visiting Lakers (3-8-1, 1-2 MSAC) – 8-nil.

On a rather mild evening for this time of the year, Genesee showed why they are slotted so high in the national polls. The Cougars would discover the scoring department rather quickly on Tuesday. They notched a pair of goals (at minutes 4 and 9) inside the opening 10 minutes of the contest to open up an early 2-0 lead.

Genesee would then add one more helper in the first half – which would come at minute 16. After their third goal, the Cougars would head into halftime with a 3-nil lead.

Genesee's first half goals seemed to come in bunches – but that would change in the latter half of the game – where they would go on to tally 5 more markers – but this time – they were more spread out.

The Cougars would discover the net again at minutes 53, 61, 70, 74, and 88.

It was evident that Genesee showed their true colors a day ago in their meeting with Finger Lakes. That is – that they are a well-balanced team both offensively and defensively.

In total, the Cougars outshot the Lakers – 14-3 – in the win.

With the win, Genesee moved to 8-1 on the season. They will play next at Mercyhurst North East tomorrow at 4:00 p.m.

The Lakers, who are now experiencing a 3-game losing streak, will return to action tomorrow to host Niagara County CC at home. That game is slated to get underway at 4:00 p.m.
