Cross Country – FLCC Men and Women Put Forth Solid Races at Houghton

HOUGHTON, NY. – The Finger Lakes CC men and women's sides both turned in respectable performances on Saturday (9/22) at the Houghton Highlander Invitational. In a field full of talented four-year institutions, their divisions were led by Joshua Corey and Alaina Bailey respectively.

The men, who raced on an 8k course, received a 30:22 effort out of Corey on the fall afternoon. His time was marked as a season's best for the Lakers. Bailey, running on a 5k path for the women, paced her division for Finger Lakes with a time of 21:57 (season's best for the Lady Lakers).
 

The Finger Lakes men's squad also received solid showings out of Kevin Schoonmaker (31:00), Jason Woodard (31:31), Brandon Smith (31:36), and Nicholas Pruden (32:37). All four of these Lakers recorded personal best times for 2012 with their finishes on Saturday.  

Adding quality races for the women's side for Finger Lakes were Caitlin Drennan (24:33) and Carlye Cole (28:23) – both of whom delivered their best performances thus far for 2012.
 

Finger Lakes will participate in its next meet on Saturday, Oct. 6 – at the Hamilton College Invitational. The afternoon Invitational, which is slated to be held in Clinton, NY, is expected to get underway at 12:00 p.m.
