Cross Country – FLCC Men and Women Compete in Regionals

UTICA, NY. – The FLCC men and women competed in the 2012 NJCAA Region III Championships over the weekend. This year's regionals, which were hosted by Mohawk Valley CC on Saturday (10/27), consisted of the Lakers finishing 7th out of the nine teams competing in them. The Lady Lakers, like the men, also ran a respectable race.

Leading the way for the FLCC men with a 16th place showing on what was a 5 mile course, was Joshua Corey. The sophomore was followed by Brandon Smith (29th), Jesse Martinez (32nd), Kevin Schoonmaker (33rd), and Jason Woodard (39th). Adding solid performances for the Lakers were Samuel Mozingo (41st), Nicholas Pruden (51st), and Keith Baley (58th).

The FLCC women were paced by Alaina Bailey and her 9th place showing. Bailey, who earned All-Region honors with her solid finish, returned to running just recently after being shelved for two weeks due to injury. Following her top 10 performance were her teammates – Caitlin Drennan (26th) and Carlye Cole (40th).

The FLCC men and women will conclude the 2012 racing season at the NJCAA National Championships next Saturday (11/10). The nationals, which are scheduled to be held on the campus of SUNY Delhi, will begin at 11:00 am that morning.
