Cross Country – FLCC Men and Women Conclude Season at NJCAA Nationals
DELHI, NY. – The FLCC men and women partook in the 2012 NJCAA Cross Country Championships over the weekend on Saturday (11/10) amidst the campus of SUNY Delhi.
FLCC, matching up against a significant cast of quality runners, received solid performances from both divisions – led by Joshua Corey of the men's side and his 8k time of 30:24 (6:05 pace). The Lady Lakers, who ran on a 5k course, were headed by Alaina Bailey and her 22:53 (7:22 pace) finish.
Corey's time placed him in the 38th spot overall in the men's division. As a whole, 125 male athletes competed in the field.
Bailey's racing effort placed her 32nd overall in the women's bracket. She and her teammates – Caitlin Drennan and Carlye Cole – raced amongst a group of 100 competitors. Drennan came in 61st (25:15) while Cole completed the nationals 87th (28:04).
For the Lakers, Kevin Schoonmaker followed Corey with a 62nd place afternoon. He was clocked at 31:40 (6:20 pace).
Brandon Smith, 72nd (32:08), Jason Woodard, 87th (32:45), and Jesse Martinez, 94th (33:41), each placed inside the top-100 for the Lakers.
Rounding out the men's side for FLCC with solid days on the grounds of Delhi were Samuel Mozingo (34:46) and Nicholas Pruden (35:27).
As a team, the men placed 13th overall out of the 16 competing schools.
