As a dual-sport athlete in high school at Rush Henrietta: O’Connell was a member of the women’s volleyball and softball teams. During her playing days on the softball team at Rush-Henrietta, she was a multi-positional outfielder. O’Connell rotated between playing both left and right field. She has been described as an athlete who exhibits the passion, dedication, and determination that represents a winner. O’Connell was known for her role as a clubhouse leader in high school. She strives for excellence each time that she steps onto the field by displaying a stellar work ethic. Her recipe of demonstrating character is necessary for building team continuity within the Lady Lakers organization. O’Connell’s presence will be a welcomed addition to the team in 2012. The freshman is currently majoring in criminal justice.
