Softball – Finger Lakes Drops Pair Of Home Games To Erie
CANANDAIGUA, NY. – The Finger Lakes Community College Lady Lakers are now in the midst of a twelve-game losing streak after dropping a pair of games this afternoon to the Erie Community College Lady Kats (8-11), 9-0 (game one) and 8-1 (game two).
The Lady Lakers were dominated by the pitching and hitting performance of Hannah Foster (a standout utility player for the Lady Kats) in both games today. Foster was a force on the mound in game one for Erie, holding Finger Lakes lineup to just a pair of hits. In game two, she then led the Lady Kats with her bat by slugging three hits, two of which were for extra bases (doubles).
Game One: The Lady Lakers received one hit each from Emily Essom (Fairport, NY), Shelby Marra (Spencerport, NY), and Cassidy Smyers (Wellsville, NY). Essom and Marra both finished the game 1 for 1 from the plate while Smyers delivered a 1 for 2 effort from the dish in the losing effort.
Game Two: Finger Lakes was highlighted by Jeri Baker (Harrisville, NY) and her two-hit game. Baker went 2 for 4 with her bat with one run scored. Shealena Marnell (Moravia, NY) and Kayla Kline (Seneca Falls, NY) each added one hit apiece for the Lady Lakers in the loss. Marnell and Kline both finished the game 1 for 2 from the plate.
Upcoming Games: Finger Lakes will remain at home for its next set of games. The Lady Lakers will play conference foes Jefferson Community College (Lady Cannoneers) on Sunday (4/22). The first pitch of game one is slated to be thrown at 1:00 pm. The Lady Cannoneers current overall record in 2012 stands at 9-11.
