A look ahead at Lady Lakers upcoming softball schedule

CANANDAIGUA – The Lady Lakers will hit the field today as they are scheduled to take on Alfred State College on the road in an afternoon doubleheader. After taking on the Lady Pioneers on Friday, Finger Lakes will host Fulton-Montgomery CC tomorrow for a pair of home games beginning at 1 pm. It will then wrap up its weekend slate of games when it travels on Sunday to play at Lakeland Community College (D-II member). That doubleheader will get underway at 11 am. Finger Lakes enters today supporting a 9-20 record.

The Lady Lakers have already taken on the Lady Pioneers this season. Both teams met twice back in March down in Myrtle Beach, SC. On the 19th, Finger Lakes fell to Alfred State 6-4, but rebounded two days later by defeating them 10-6. In the 10-6 win, the Lady Lakers pounded out 20 hits. In the win, Courtney Edger, Katie Plummer, and Elaina Evinsky each registered four hits apiece. A-State will enter action this afternoon with a 4-22 record.

Finger Lakes last played Fulton-Montgomery on Apr. 28, 2012 in a road doubleheader. It ended up splitting the pair of games. The Lady Lakers fell in the opener 13-2 before winning the nightcap 16-5. In the win, former Lady Laker Jeri Baker recorded three hits and four runs while starting pitcher Shelby Marra ('12) threw six strong innings. F-M will carry a 0-14 record into Saturday.

The Lady Lakers last met Lakeland on May 7, 2011 at home. In the doubleheader, Finger Lakes dropped both games by the scores of 10-0 and 10-2. Lakeland currently boasts a 14-14 record.
