CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. -- The Finger Lakes Community College softball team won their second consecutive doubleheader on Saturday, defeating Fulton Montgomery Community College, 9-0 and 15-0, respectively. The Lakers improve to 13-20 on the season, while the Raiders fall to 0-16.

The Lakers will travel to Lakeland, Ohio tomorrow to challenge Lakeland Community College. The first pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 11a.m.

Game 1 -- Finger Lakes Community College 9, Fulton Montgomery Community College 0

Rachel Mertens allowed just two hits over 5.0 innings pitched to earn the victory. The Syracuse, N.Y. native also fanned seven of the game's first nine batters. On the day, Mertens retired 10 hitters via the strikeout, a mark that ties her career-high.

The Finger Lakes Community College offense posted ten hits. Kelly Kier led the way three doubles and two runs batted in. Samantha German and Katie Plummer matched Kier's two runs batted in effort on the day, and both posted at least one hit.

Game 2 -- Finger Lakes Community College 15, Fulton Montgomery Community College 0

Elaina Evinsky pitched her first career collegiate no-hitter. The Spencerport, N.Y. native allowed just two baserunners, while punching out seven batters over five innings pitched.

The Lakers jumped out to an early 8-0 lead in the first inning, and added another six runs in the second inning. Finger Lakes Community College would add another in the third, but would be held scoreless in the fourth. The fifteen runs matched the team's season-high.

The Lakers received twelve hits on the afternoon, but perhaps none were more spectacular than Mertens's at-bat in the bottom half of the second inning. With two runners on base in the second inning, Mertens lined a pitch over the Fulton Montgomery Community College left fielder's head and never stopped running to complete the inside-the-park three-run home run.

Individually, Taylor Briggs went 3-for-3 at the plate with a career-high four runs batted in. Courtney Edger matched Briggs's day at the plate with a 3-for-3 performance of her own. Robertson, Emily Essom, Nicole Taylor, and Cassidy Smyers each recorded at least one hit.
