Lady Lakers Record First Ever Conference Title

Binghamton, NY – The FLCC women's volleyball team captured its first ever Mid-State Athletic Conference title on Saturday (the host site was Broome Community College). In the semi-finals, the Lady Lakers (28-10) downed Onondaga Community College in 5 games, 25-15, 22-25, 25-16, 25-27, and 15-8. Taylor Ryan (Victor) led the way for the Lady Lakers with 18 kills and 17 digs. Jessica Granger (Letchworth) added a game-high 57 assists in the win for FLCC.

In the conference finals, the Lady Lakers seized the title by taking down Broome Community College in 4 games, 25-20, 25-23, 24-26, and 25-21. Alysha LaDuke (Livonia), 14 kills, 11 digs, Ryan, 12 kills, 13 digs, and Granger, 57 assists, each highlighted the match in the win for FLCC.

The Lady Lakers will play next in the National Junior College Athletic Association Region III Division III Championship tournament (tournament play will begin on Saturday, 10/29 at 10:00 a.m. and conclude on Sunday, 10/30). The host site of this year's tournament will be Niagara County Community College. Tournament play will be broken up into two pools (Pool's A and B). The # 3 seeded Finger Lakes Community College Lady Lakers will play in pool B. FLCC will play three matches on day one of the tournament. The three teams that FLCC will matchup against include; #6 Alfred State College, # 7 Adirondack Community College, and # 2 Erie Community College (in this order).
