The Finger Lakes Community College baseball team finished the 2011 season with an overall record of 20-20 (15-9 in Region III play). Head coach Patrick Greer was named 2011 Mid-State Athletic Conference Baseball All Conference Team Coach of the Year.
Sophomore Kyle Barkley (Penn Yan) highlighted the Lakers season with 5 home runs, 39 RBI, and 29 runs scored while hitting .449. Barkley was named 1st Team All-Region for the NJCAA in Region III Division III. Conrad Dolbear (Mexico Academy) also assembled a stellar offensive output in 2011 by hitting .364 with 1 home run and 21 RBI. Dolbear added 25 runs scored with 7 stolen bases. He was also named 2nd Team All-Region for the NJCAA in Region III Division III. John Bennett (Churchville-Chili) produced 26 RBI and scored 21 runs while posting a .327 batting average for FLCC. Zach Peters (Canisteo-Greenwood) led the team in steals with 23.
Sophomore Gary Carpentier (Oswego) led the Lakers pitching staff with a record of 7-3. He pitched in a total of 59.1 innings (team high) and posted an ERA of 4.55. Carpentier led FLCC in strikeouts with 49 while Josh Gascon (Livonia) recorded the team's lowest ERA at 3.43.
FLCC will lose a significant portion of their 2011 roster to eligibility and graduation. The Lakers had a total of 18 sophomores this season and look to potentially retain the remaining 8 freshmen from this year's roster. FLCC has a strong recruiting class coming in for 2012.
