As a catcher for the Lakers in 2011: Szczupakowski hit .333 in limited action, playing in a total of 9 games. Szczupakowski is expected to see a significant increase in playing time this season as Coach Marren will look to lean on his game calling skills behind the plate to help lead the Lakers pitching staff. He has the ability to become an effective catcher in 2012 and could play a key role in the overall success of the rotation and bullpen. Prior to his collegiate career, Szczupakowski assembled a solid career in high school at Churchville-Chili as a signal caller for the varsity baseball team; helping lead the team’s pitching staff to several winning seasons. The sophomore is currently majoring in therapeutic massage/integrated health care.
