CANANDAIGUA, NY. – The Finger Lakes Community College Lakers (6-14) split a home doubleheader this afternoon with the Niagara County Community College Thunderwolves. The Thunderwolves took game, 14-1. The Lakers rebounded in game two with a 4-1 win. Finger Lakes has now won three of its last four games.
Justin Stowell (Horseheads, NY) produced the lone highlight for Finger Lakes in game one by launching a solo home run.
Game two was highlighted by the pitching efforts of Lakers starter David Bradshaw (Canandaigua, NY). The freshman threw a complete game 7-hitter. He finished the nightcap with 4 strikeouts.
Offensively in game two, the Lakers were led yet again by the bat of Stowell. He finished the game by going a perfect 3 for 3 from the plate. Anthony Gonzalez (Rochester, NY) contributed 2 hits and scored 2 runs for Finger Lakes. Chris Fazio (Staten Island, NY) added a pair of RBI's for the Lakers in the win.
Finger Lakes will return to action on Tuesday (4/10) for a home afternoon doubleheader against #6 nationally ranked Erie Community College. The first pitch of game one is slated to be thrown at 2:00 pm.
