Lakers set to host the Ithaca College JV Bombers this afternoon
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College baseball team will head south this afternoon for a doubleheader with the Ithaca College JV baseball team. The first pitch is scheduled for 2p.m. at Freeman Field.
The two squads have met twice this year. On March 30, the Lakers took both games from the Bombers JV team. In the first game of the doubleheader, Alan Rombkowski fanned seven batters over 6.1 innings pitched to blank the Bombers, 5-0. In the second game of the doubleheader, Derick Fera struck out seven batters over 5.0 innings pitched while the Lakers offense, led by Matt Burns and Troy Loparco, who each drove in two runs, keyed the team to victory, 8-5.
The Lakers enter this afternoon's contest with a 9-22 record. Nate Eastman ranks third on the team with a .339 batting average, but has hit .529 over the past week while totaling nine bases. Sophomore right-handed pitcher Dakota Stackhouse leads the team with three victories on the mound.
