Streaking Lakers will play Alfred State College four times this week
CANANDAIGUA – Finger Lakes, fresh off four wins in a row over conference foe Broome CC this past weekend, will take the field again tomorrow as it is set to host Alfred State College at home in an afternoon doubleheader. The Lakers will arrive into Tuesday supporting a 13-24 record while the Pioneers will come into play 13-25. Both teams, after meeting at Finger Lakes tomorrow, will pair up again on Thursday on the Pioneers field for a second consecutive doubleheader. First pitch on both days will be thrown at 2 pm.
Tuesday's and Thursday's games will hold high stakes as Alfred State currently anchors the fourth and final playoff spot in the Western Division. The Lakers currently sit in fifth place and are one game back of Alfred State.
Finger Lakes has been playing inspired baseball lately. Offensively, in their four wins over Broome, the Lakers combined to register 45 hits while grabbing wins by the scores of 8-2, 7-5, 2-0, and 8-2. In the four contests against Broome, Finger Lakes was led by the hot bat of Nate Eastman. The 6-foot-5-inch Oneonta, NY native went 12-16 over the weekend while the Lakers starting pitchers, stemming from Derick Fera to Kevin Close to Kevin Carpentier to Brandon Anderson, picked up four consecutive victories.
The Lakers, last season, met the Pioneers four times. They swept their season series with Alfred State by taking two games at home as well as two games on the road from them. On Apr. 28, Finger Lakes notched home wins by the scores of 4-2 and 10-4 a day before it took down the Pioneers on the road 15-10 and 16-3.
The Lakers, after taking on Alfred State College on Thursday, will then travel to Tompkins Cortland CC on Saturday for a conference doubleheader. Game one of that twinville will begin at 1 pm.
