Lakers Host Jamestown C.C. on Sunday
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. -- The Finger Lakes Community College baseball team returns home for the final time on the season this Sunday. The first pitch between the Lakers and Jamestown C.C. is scheduled for 1p.m. at Laker Baseball Field.
Finger Lakes Community College enters Sunday's doubleheader having won six of their last games; for the season, the Lakers are 15-26. Sophomore Nate Eastman leads the team with a .389 batting average. The Oneonta, N.Y. native also leads the team with 18 runs batted in. Dakota Stackhouse leads the team with four victories on the mound.
Jamestown Community College enters Sunday's slate of games having dropped two consecutive games; the Jayhawks stand at 16-22 on the season. Sophomore Elio Gonzalez leads the team with a .355 average at the plate. Gonzalez also leads the team with 28 runs batted in. Freshman Luke Howard has pitched the Jayhawks to three victories on the season.
The two teams have met previously this season. On April 9, 2013, the Jayhawks eked out a 4-3 victory in the first game of the doubleheader, while the Lakers took the second game of the doubleheader, 12-5.
Fans are encouraged to arrive approximately ten minutes early, as the Finger Lakes Community College Athletics department will honor the sophomore baseball players.
