Mike Zollweg concluded his first as an assistant coach for the Lakers in 2012.
Along with coaching at Finger Lakes, he also serves as a personal coach in the Rochester, NY area, working one on one with high school and youth pitchers. In addition, Zollweg has six years of previous coaching experience at the Frozen Ropes Baseball Training Center in Rochester, NY.
Zollweg was a standout baseball player and three-time captain at the University of Rochester (NY). Prior to playing at Rochester, he spent one season at Finger Lakes Community College as a pitcher and outfielder.
Zollweg also has experience playing international baseball. Prior to his junior year at Rochester, he played in an international tournament in Holland, pitching the United States team to a 2-0 victory in the championship game. Preceding his senior year, he played in the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League, where he was selected to the All-Star team and was among the league leaders in Earned Run Average.
Zollweg has played with and against over twenty-five athletes who were drafted into professional baseball. Aside from coaching, he currently plays recreational baseball for a men's summer league.
