Lakers Win in Commanding Fashion in Season Opener

Canandaigua – The FLCC Lakers opened there 2011-12 season with a commanding victory over Houghton JV on Wednesday (11/2) at home, 107 – 56. The Lakers were led by freshmen sensations Xavier Cunningham (Rochester), Sean Carbonell (Irondequoit), and Richard De La Cruz (Washington Heights). Cunningham recorded a double-double, scoring 20 points while pulling down 10 rebounds (5 offensive and 5 defensive). Carbonell tallied 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 steals in the win. De La Cruz, along with Cunningham and Carbonell, also reached double figures in points by adding 17 of his own. Tyron Wilcox (Rochester) dished out 7 assists (team-high) in just 15 minutes of play for FLCC. On the defensive end of the court, Nick Wicks (Webster) registered a team-high 7 steals for the Lakers.
