Men’s Basketball Endures Tough Weekend at Pete Pavia Memorial Tournament

ROCHESTER, NY. – The Finger Lakes Community College Lakers (4-8) lost a pair of games over the weekend at the Pete Pavia Memorial Tournament held at Monroe Community College. Most recently, on Saturday (12/10), FLCC fell to Oakland Community College (Michigan), 77-57. On Friday (12/9), the Lakers were victims of defeat to Monroe Community College, 74-43.

On Saturday against Oakland Community College, FLCC saw two of its players reach double figures in scoring, sophomore forward Cody Sarkis (Greece) and freshman shooting guard Sean Carbonell (Irondequoit). On the evening, Sarkis finished the game with 14 points while Carbonell contributed 13 of his own. Sophomore point guard Tyron Wilcox (Rochester) added 9 points for the Lakers in the loss.

On Friday against Monroe Community College, FLCC again saw two of its players reach the double-digit scoring column. This time it was freshmen's Nic Cesar (Brooklyn) and Richard De La Cruz (Washington Heights). The pair of shooting guards from New York City each scored 13 points in a losing effort.

The Lakers are now off for the remainder of 2011 as well as the beginning of (January) 2012. They will return to the court on Tuesday, 1/10/12 for a home matchup against Tompkins-Cortland Community College. Game time is slated for 8:00 p.m.
