Sarkis, Sanders, and Carbonell Lead Lakers To Road Win
PLATTSBURGH, NY. – Sophomore forward Cody Sarkis (Greece, NY) and freshman shooting guard Trevor Sanders (Shortsville, NY) each scored career highs in points on Sunday, leading the Finger Lakes Community College Lakers (6-13) to a 73-54 road victory over Clinton Community College. Sarkis led the team in scoring with 18 points while Sanders contributed 15 of his own. The win snapped the Lakers four-game losing streak.
The Lakers shot well offensively, registering 10 three-point field goals on the night (tying their season high). They also played stellar man-to-man defense, holding Cayuga to their second lowest point total in 2011-12.
Freshman forward Sean Carbonell (Irondequoit, NY) continued his consistent play and solid first season in an FLCC uniform by adding 15 points in the winning effort.
The Lakers will stay on the road for their next game, which comes this Wednesday (1/25) at Onondaga Community College. Game time tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m.
