Cesar Leads Lakers to First Winning Streak of 2011-12
CANANDAIGUA, NY. - Trailing 68-65 with 1:25 remaining in the game tonight, the Finger Lakes Community College Lakers (8-14) mounted a 7-0 run and didn't allow Broome Community College to score again, closing out the game with a 72-68 victory. The Lakers played with a high level of intensity in the second half behind a 27-point (game-high) night from freshman guard Nic Cesar (Brooklyn, NY).
Cesar's 27 points came on a night where he shot 83% (5-6) from three-point land and 66% (10-15) from the field. A pair of freshman guards, Nick Wicks (Webster, NY) and Tyron Wilcox (Rochester, NY) each turned in similar offensive performances for the Lakers. Wicks scored 14 points while handing out 5 assists. Wilcox added 12 points and a game-high 6 assists in the win.
Freshman forward Sean Carbonell (Irondequoit, NY) and sophomore forward Cody Sarkis (Greece, NY) both controlled the glass for the Lakers, pulling down 7 rebounds each.
Dante Etienne paced Broome with 24 points and 21 rebounds (game-high).
FLCC will remain at home for its next game, where it will take on Jefferson Community College this Saturday (2/4) at 3:00 p.m.
