Women’s Basketball Ends 2012 Part of Schedule with Road Loss
ITHACA, NY. – The Finger Lakes CC Lady Lakers, in their most recent contest, fell on the road to the Ithaca College JV Lady Bombers last Thursday (12/13) – 62-45. The loss, which dropped the Lady Lakers 2012-13 overall record to 3-9, was their fifth consecutive. Finger Lakes road record now stands at 1-5 on the season.
Despite falling, the Lady Lakers took several positives away from their meeting with the Lady Bombers. As a unit, Finger Lakes shot 39% from the field where they were 20-51. Collectively, they posted four rebounders with rebounding totals of five or more.
Leading the Lady Lakers in points with her 12th consecutive double-digit scoring effort was sophomore guard Casi Strait. The solid scorer posted a 22-point night off 10-18 shooting from the field and in addition added 5 assists.
Also discovering the double-digit scoring column for Finger Lakes was sophomore forward Britany Monpere. She, like Strait, also shot the rock at a high percentage. On the night, Monpere, on her way to 10 points, shot 5-7 from the court.
Forward Ashley House contributed 5 points and 6 rebounds for the Lady Lakers in the paint.
Strait, joined by Monpere and guard Julia Pagano, each followed House in the rebounding department with 5 rebounds apiece. Pagano, to go along with her 5 boards, doled out 3 assists.
Finger Lakes, which will now endure an extended break away from the court for winter recess, will return to action on Tuesday, 1/8/13 for its next contest. On that day, it will kick off its conference schedule by taking on Tompkins Cortland CC on the road. That game will begin with a 5:00 p.m. tip time.
