Four Lady Lakers Reach Double Figures in Scoring in Conference Win

AUBURN, NY. – The Lady Lakers improved their 2012-13 Mid-State Athletic Conference record to 5-0 (9-9 overall) on Saturday by taking down the Cayuga CC Lady Spartans on the road – 83-67.

The Lady Lakers – behind 37 first half and 46 second half points – were led by the double-digit scoring efforts of Casi Strait, Kelli McCauley, Britany Monpere, and Julia Pagano. Finger Lakes, with the win, is now on a five-game winning streak. Each of its wins during the streak has come via conference play.

In the win, the Lady Lakers were led in the scoring department by Strait. On the afternoon, she delivered 19 points all while pulling down 10 rebounds. Her double double, in addition to 4 assists, came with an 8-8 effort from the free throw line.

McCauley contributed 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. In addition to her solid performance on the hardwood, the sophomore was a perfect 7-7 from the charity stripe.

Monpere and Pagano followed Strait and McCauley with 15-point and 13-point contests respectively. Monpere, to go along with her offensive showing, totaled 11 rebounds and 3 steals. Pagano, who was 5-7 from the court, chipped in with 8 steals and 6 rebounds out of the point guard position.

Sophomore forward Jordan Smith added 9 points and 6 rebounds for Finger Lakes.

The Lady Lakers, in each half of Saturday's MSAC pairing with Cayuga, outscored the Lady Spartans by a difference of eight points. Cayuga, in the first half, put up 29 points. It then went on to score 38 second half points.

Finger Lakes, as a team, finished the 40-minute meeting shooting 39% from the field and were 78% from the line.
