Women’s Soccer Season in Review
The Finger Lakes Community College women's soccer team finished the 2011 season with the nation's top National Junior College Athletic Association Division III record by going 22-1-1. The Lady Lakers captured the Region III Championship title and managed to win a pair of games in the NJCAA National Championship Tournament (where they finished 2-1). FLCC set a team record by scoring 101 goals on the season. The Lady Lakers only succumbed to 13 goals all season long, citing great play from their goalkeepers and defense.
At the conclusion of the season, a total of five FLCC Lady Lakers were announced to the Mid-State Athletic Conference All-Conference team (forward Colby Henderson (Canandaigua), midfielders Cayli Carmona (Rochester), Rebecca Giacapuzzi (Merrimack, NH), Hannah Dalle (Rochester), and Sarah Murphy (Webster)). Four members of the team were voted 1st Team All-Region (Henderson, Carmona, Giacapuzzi, and Dalle). In addition, Henderson was selected as Player of the Year for the MSAC and NJCAA's Region III. Brandy Cooper was named MSAC and NJCAA Region III Coach of the Year. As a team, the Lady Lakers successful 2011 campaign consisted of being crowned conference and regional champions. This was the fourth consecutive year that FLCC has earned the MSAC Conference Championship title ('08, '09, '10, and '11).
FLCC is looking for quality athletes who have the desire to win a championship, save money while earning their degree, and have the goal of transferring to a 4-year institution. Please fill out the questionnaire if that is you!
