Women’s Soccer – Lady Lakers Topple Broome, Complete 3rd Straight Shutout

BINGHAMTON, NY. – The Lady Lakers continued their domination of the NJCAA Division III women's soccer world yesterday.

On a cloudy afternoon in Binghamton on Tuesday, Finger Lakes (3-0-0 overall, 2-0-0 MSAC) took down one of their conference members in Broome CC, 4-0. The shutout equaled the third in a row for the Lady Lakers. They have now outscored their opponents in 2012 -- 13-0.

Finger Lakes made the blanking of Broome look rather simple yesterday. They split their goal totals in both half's of the shutout – scoring a pair of goals in the first and last 45 minutes of the game.  

The quartet of goals scored by the Lady Lakers was had by four different players. Credit Bailey Smith (midfielder), Cayli Carmona (forward), Hannah Dalle (defender/forward), and Natasha Hyland (midfielder) as the individual's responsible for these goals.

Smith's goal was assisted by Carmona while Carmona's was assisted by Kellie Brown (defender). Dominique Berrafato (forward) was the Lady Laker charged with setting up Dalle's goal. Hyland's marker came as a result of a pass from Dalle.

Finger Lakes goaltender Kristy Kirkpatrick played yet another solid game in net. In the win, she pulled in 4 saves in 90 minutes worth of action. Kirkpatrick has been in goal for all three of the Lady Lakers shutouts this season.

Despite it being early in the season, Finger Lakes seems to be clicking on all cylinders. They have looked great in all facets of the game in 2012. The Lady Lakers have proved thus far as being an unselfish group this season.

From an individual standpoint, Finger Lakes has received a pleasant blend of scoring from numerous members of its roster. So far in 2012, the Lady Lakers have seen four of their players register at least 2 goals. The team has also seen three of its players dole out a minimum of 2 assists.

Carmona has been a large part of Finger Lakes early season success. So far in 2012, the second-year star has scored 6 goals and in addition has handed out 2 assists. Her 6 goals and 14 total points rank her 2nd in the nation for both categories.

Dalle, like Carmona, is also off to a fast start. So far in her sophomore campaign, she has found the net twice and has discovered her teammates four times. Her 4 assists rank her 2nd in the nation.

Freshman Danielle VonHahmann (forward) and Hyland have each added 2 goals apiece thus far this season for the Lady Lakers.

In goal, Kirkpatrick's flawless play has put her atop of several statistical categories in 2012. She is tied for 1st in the nation in save percentage, goals against, and goals against average.

The Lady Lakers will look to continue to add to their undefeated record this Saturday (9/8) when they take on conference foes Corning CC at home. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
