Women’s Soccer – FLCC Claims 11-Nil Home Win over Niagara County

CANANDAIGUA – Finger Lakes, in its eleventh game of the 2012 season, took on Niagara County CC yesterday at home in front of a decent crowd on what was a rather brisk afternoon. Facing a team in the Lady Thunderwolves, who showed a ton of heart on the field on Thursday, the #2 nationally ranked Lady Lakers (10-0-1, 3-0 MSAC) came out victorious at the conclusion of the game – 11-nil.

Heading the scoring column with 4 goals and 2 assists for Finger Lakes was sophomore forward Cayli Carmona. She was one of eight Lady Lakers who found the back of the net a day ago.

Finger Lakes also received one goal each from Hannah Dalle, Lauren Maynard, Dominique Berrafato, Danielle VonHahmann, Rebecca Giacapuzzi, Kellie Brown, and Emily Stritzel.

Dalle, Berrafato, VonHahmann, and Brown each added one assist apiece to go along with their helpers.

The Lady Lakers also received contributions out of Kayley Trayer and Jeri Baker – as both athletes registered one assist apiece in the win.

In goal, Kristy Kirkpatrick netted 3 saves for Finger Lakes in the 90-minute contest.

In the loss, Niagara County received 5 saves each out of Elyssa Brege and Victoria Zambuto. Brege played in net for 50 minutes while Zambuto served as a keeper for the remaining 40 minutes of the game.

The Lady Thunderwolves are now 0-10 on the season. They will play their next game tomorrow when they are slated to take on Herkimer County CC at home.

The Lady Lakers will also be back in action tomorrow as well. They will remain at home where they will take on SUNY Delhi at 1:00 p.m.
