Carmona Named Region III Women’s Soccer Player of the Year
CANANDAIGUA – Cayli Carmona, a sophomore forward for the Lady Lakers this past season, has been named Region III Division III Player of the Year by the NJCAA. The second-year star, who has also been elected 1st Team All-Region, helped lead Finger Lakes to an 18-2-1 record in 2012. Carmona came up big on offense in her final year with the club. The Rochester, NY native tallied 109 points (37 goals and 35 assists) over a stretch of 21 games this past year. Carmona finished the season ranked as the top scorer in the region and in the nation. Her point, goal, and assist totals each set FLCC single season records for their categories. Of the contests that she played in, Carmona scored 2 or more goals in over half (11) of them. In addition, she dropped 2 or more assists in 8 of FLCC's 21 fixtures.
