Four Lady Lakers Join Carmona on Women’s Soccer All-Region Team
CANANDAIGUA – Joining Lady Lakers forward Cayli Carmona on this year's NJCAA Region III Division III All-Region team (1st Team) are her teammates – Hannah Dalle, Rebecca Giacapuzzi, and Samantha Burnside. In addition to these players being named 1st Team All-Region, Lady Lakers midfielder Natasha Hyland has been selected 2nd Team All-Region. Each of these individuals produced solid season's in 2012 by exerting valuable contributions in each and every game for FLCC.
Dalle, who split her time between offense (forward) and defense, came up with a large season from a scoring standpoint in her second year with the club. The sophomore finished second in scoring in both the region and nation. She concluded her final year in an FLCC uniform with a 28-goal (5th in the nation), 19-assist (2nd in the nation) season. Dalle's goal and assist totals equated out to be a 75-point season on paper.
Giacapuzzi, a sophomore forward, finished her Lady Laker career by posting a quality year statistically. The New Hampshire resident delivered double-digits in the goals (12) scored column in 2012. Furthermore, she complemented her 12 markers (30th in the nation) with 9 assists (20th in the nation). Overall, Giacapuzzi ended the season with a total of 33 points (25th in the nation).
Burnside, a sophomore defender, stood as a stable force in FLCC's zone all season long. She did a superb job of containing the opposition's offenders with her physical style of play. Burnside gave the team an unbelievable amount of effort each time she entered the pitch in 2012. Rated highly as one of the top defenders in the region and in the nation, her position on the All-Region team was well deserved – as was Dalle's and Giacapuzzi's.
Rounding out the list of players from FLCC making this year's All-Region team is Hyland. The sophomore earned 2nd Team honors thanks to the 7 goals and 3 assists that she accounted for in 2012. Hyland, like the FLCC first-teamers, was also well deserving of her spot in the All-Region lineup.
