FLCC Online Academic Help Links

FLCC Online Academic Help Links

With online classes starting today, the Finger Lakes Community College Athletic Department wants to remind all of our student-athletes that we are here to help. We understand there are going to be some difficulties in getting used to the new class structures. The department has put together a list of academic help links for our student-athletes to take advantage of during this time.

Our first help link is to Academic Advising. This page will direct student-athletes to our Academic Success Network. They will be able to get in touch with FLCC’s professional and faculty advisors along with specialized program and cohort advisors. Registration begins April 13 for all students. Student-athletes can go to this link for advising assistance: https://www.flcc.edu/offices/educationalplanning/

Another helpful link is to Academic Success and Access Programs. This page is created to help student-athletes succeed in the classroom. The link includes Disability Services, an Educational Opportunity Program, a Science Incubator, Select Subject Tutoring and College Success Strategies, Supplemental Instruction, the Math Center, and the Writing Center. Information as to how to connect with Student Leadership to help with difficulties is also provided. Student-athletes can go to this link for overall learning support: https://www.flcc.edu/learningsupport/

This next link is the Science Incubator. This is a place for student-athletes to receive help specifically with their science classes.  It provides solutions for students looking for places to work when they cannot utilize on campus labs.  Professional tutoring is offered for students needed extra help in their science classes. Student-athletes can get their science help through: https://www.flcc.edu/incubator/index.cfm

The Writing Center is a place for student-athletes to get extra support to improve their writing and critical thinking skills. The Writing Center offers help accessing reference materials, pursuing mentoring, and scheduling mentoring. Appointments can be made in order to receive individual assistance, most likely online.  Student-athletes can obtain writing help at this link: https://www.flcc.edu/offices/writingcenter/index.cfm

The Math Center is a resource to receive help with math classes. Here, student-athletes can find tutoring and math resources. Course textbook, scientific and graphing calculator, and computer website assistance is provided. For extra math help, student-athletes can go to this link: https://www.flcc.edu/offices/mathcenter/index.cfm

Since student-athletes will be doing all classwork online, there are bound to be IT questions. The IT Helpdesk is the place to go. The IT Helpdesk answers questions regarding Student Email and Webadvisor, basic blackboard navigation and password changes, Webadvisor password changes, basic Microsoft questions, and more. Student-athletes can find IT help at this link: https://www.flcc.edu/offices/it/helpdesk/

We understand that some student-athletes may need extra help due to disabilities. Students can find that help at Disability Services. Services provided through this link include alternative format for print materials, alternative testing arrangement, assistive technology assistance, and note takers, scribes or readers. Special forms and applications that may be needed are listed as well. For those with a disability, go to the link: https://www.flcc.edu/offices/disabilityservices/

Our final academic help link is for Community Standards and Counseling. This is an unprecedented time for everyone at FLCC and we understand many student-athletes may be experiencing difficulties. At this link, one can find help with coping more effectively with stress, developing healthy relationships, improving communication skills, increasing self-confidence, assertiveness, and self-esteem, learning to deal with grief, trauma, or loss, discovering how to overcome procrastination and/or other self-defeating behaviors, and resolving academic concerns. This type of assistance is extremely important to keep in mind as we are all distanced from each other. Student-athletes can find this help at: https://www.flcc.edu/offices/counseling/

If there are other questions that cannot be answered by these helpful links, please reach out to anyone in the FLCC Athletic Department, and we will get you the help you need.
