Bio
His Plaque Reads: Bob Lowden became head baseball coach in 1988 and immediately created a positive impact on the baseball program. As a standout baseball player at Monroe Community College and Miami University of Ohio, Bob brought great baseball expertise to the program, but more importantly a philosophy of teaching self-discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork. Bob's work ethic provided the leadership that allowed players to develop to their full potential while instilling lifelong values.
In 1992, Coach Lowden led the team to a Region III Division III championship title, becoming the first team in the college's history to win a Region III championship. The Lakers ended the season with a fourth place finish in the NJCAA Junior College World Series and Bob was selected Regional Coach of the Year and also Northeast District Coach of the year by the NJCAA. In 1994, Coach Lowden led the team to another NJCAA Junior College World Series as the Lakers won another REgion III Division III championship. Bob was again voted Coach of the Year in NJCAA Division III and Northeast Districts, along with the Louisville Slugger Coaching Award. Coach Lowden was active at the international level coaching and conducting clinics in the Italian Professional League from 1991-1993. In 1994, he was chosen by USA Baseball to coach the East Squad at the United States Olympic Festival. In 1996, Lowden was selected to coach the Junior College Baseball National team. The Mid-State Athletic Conference expanded league membership to include baseball and Bob was named Coach of the Year in 2005.
Bob was named Athletic Director in 2006 and instituted Winning With Character for all student athletes. The program emphasizes leadership, teamwork, ethics, and integrity in the classroom, in sports and society. Bob expanded the college athletic program by adding men's and women's track and field and women's volleyball. Lowden earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Education from Miami University of Ohio and a Master of Science degree in Educational Administration from SUNY Brockport.
