Bio
As a standout forward with the Lakers in 2011-12: Carbonell displayed a combination of mental and physical toughness inside the paint on an every game basis. The 6’3” filled out star, sacrificed his body throughout his freshman year by grabbing loose balls, by posting up in the interior post and driving to the hoop, and by exemplifying great hustle on both ends of the gymnasium. He never showed any quit when present on the court. Carbonell, who played in 27 games in his first year with FLCC, averaged 12 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Overall, he shot 46% from the field – where he made good on 122 of 267 field goals. His PPG and RPG averages were solid in season one with the Lakers – but in 2012-13 – you can only expect those numbers to rise – as he enters his sophomore campaign more poised and ready than ever to leave an even larger impact on the hardwood. Carbonell has the ability to take a huge leap forward this year – which is saying something – considering the success he had as a freshman. His size, smarts, and speed – make for him to be a largely viable asset to his teammates and coaching staff. When coming to an FLCC Lakers game this season, look around for 23’s number – as you can expect to see it hustling consistently up and down the court.
