In 2014, Shawn Ryan concluded his fifth season as the primary assistant coach of the men’s lacrosse program at Finger Lakes Community College.

Ryan, prior to 2013, had coached lacrosse for an additional seven years at the high school and travel team levels. As a high school lacrosse coach, he served as an assistant with the boys JV team at the Aquinas Institute of Rochester for four years. As a travel team coach, Ryan directed the Fellowship of Christian Athletes – an established lacrosse tournament team.

Prior to entering the coaching ranks, Ryan was a standout lacrosse player during his collegiate days at Utica College. While at Utica, as a goaltender, the four-year starter was named Empire 8 Athletic Conference Goalie of the Week multiple times and was and still is a multi-record holder for most wins and time in net.

Prior to his days at Utica, Ryan, as a former member of Webster High School’s men’s varsity lacrosse team, was named Section V’s Goalie of the Year in 2001.

Ryan graduated from Utica in 2006 with his bachelor’s in history.
