High School: The defender was a tri-sport athlete at East Rochester. He played a sport during each season of each school year during his time at the facility. Bates saw action on the gridiron as a football player and in addition saw time on both the basketball and tennis courts. Unquestionably athletic, the sophomore brings a heaping amount of endurance with him to the Lakers roster after playing what were three high intense sports (from a conditioning standpoint) in high school. Expect to see a nice return on investment with this recruit while he wears the Laker logo on his chest. Bates gives Finger Lakes a nice complementary piece on the defensive end of the pitch. He provides stability in front of the net as well as mobility around the field. Don’t be surprised if he becomes impactful in Lakers attire in 2012. Bates is currently majoring in liberal arts and sciences.
