CANANDAIGUA -- The Finger Lakes Men's Soccer team won their second game of the season on Wednesday defeating Jefferson Community College 2-1. The win raises Finger Lakes' record to 2-8-3 overall and 1-3 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference.
With a shortened roster, Finger Lakes had to be creative on Wednesday in their lineup. This meant utilizing both goalies on the roster. Barizaa Worwor got his third consecutive start in net and Brian Arcara started on the bench. However, he was not on the bench as a goalie. In the 5th minute, Arcara was subbed into the game as an outfield player. Four minutes later, he would record the first goal of his college career beating the Cannoneer keeper for their early 1-0 lead. Sean Anderson set up the goal, his first assist.
Finger Lakes would grow their lead in the 35th minute when Alan Barton found Arcara again who would find the back of the net for his second goal of the game. Arcara's teammate Worwor would make the lead stick recording three of his four saves in the game during the second half. The Cannoneers would sneak one past him in the 73rd minute, but the Lakers defense would hold for the 2-1 victory.
The Lakers remain home on Saturday when they face Mid-State Athletic Conference and Region III West foe Corning. Kickoff from Canandaigua is scheduled for 1pm.
