CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - In the final match of the season, Lakers Supporting Lakers Day, and Sophomore Day, the FLCC men's soccer put together a masterful performance. The Lakers would blank the visiting Erie Community College Kats in an 8-0 final score.
Two minutes into the match, the Lakers struck first off from a goal by Fabrizio Nicotra (Yerba Beuna, Tucuman/ Colegio Fasta Angel Boisdron) assisted by Sophomore Schuyler Cole (North Rose, N.Y./ North Rose-Wolcott). Just four minutes later, Cole would get his own, scoring unassisted. Cole would complete the hat trick, scoring in the 40th minute, from a feed by teammates Aidan Smith (Corning, N.Y./ Corning). Cole's final goal would come in the later stages of the match in the 84th minute.
In the last match of the season, Freshman Kyle DiBiase (Honeoye, N.Y./ Honoeye) would find the back of the net for the first time of the season, scoring unassisted in the 15th minute. Freshman Yohan Coleman (Canandaigua, N.Y./ Canandaigua) score in his second straight match, bringing his season goal total to two.
Coming out the second half, with a 0-5 advantage, Sophomore Cameron Rynders (Rochester, N.Y./ Greece Arcadia) would extend the Laker's lead to 6 off from a feed from teammate Fabrizio Nicotra. In the 81st minute, a hard foul on Sophomore Schuyler Cole in the box set the Lakers up for a penalty kick, with Sophomore Brendan Curtis (Red Creek, N.Y./ Red Creek) lined up for the shot. Curtis would convert on the PK, scoring his first goal of the season and extending the Laker's lead.
With the win, the team concludes the season on a 2-game win streak and will look to reload for the 2023 Fall season with their eyes on the NJCAA Region III championship.
