FLCC Track Men and Women Perform Well at Roberts Wesleyan Invitational
ROCHESTER, NY. – This past weekend, the Finger Lakes CC men and women competed in the Roberts Wesleyan College Invitational. The conditions were formidable. Competitors had to deal with frigid wind chill temperatures, which were in the low 20's, in addition to 25 MPH gusts of cold wind. Fortunately, the rain held off. Athletes were surely tested as conditions seemed to worsen throughout the day.
Julie Brooks took fourth place overall in the high jump with a leap of 1.50 meters. In the 400 meters, Anthony Shuler and Gayang Ayol continue to remain consistent in their quests to improve. Shuler was clocked at 53.59 (10th overall) while Ayol came across the finish line with a time of 53.65 (11th overall).
Shuler also took third overall in the triple jump, where he hopped to a distance of 12.49 meters. Andre Farrell just missed the finals of the 100 meters as he finished in 9th place with a time of 11.54 seconds. Nick Pruden didn't finish in scoring position, but took off over 40 seconds with a personal best time of 19:31 in the 5,000 meter run. His finish in the 5,000 meter run was good for 45th place.
FLCC will return to action this Friday and Saturday as it is set to participate in the Cortland Classic on the campus of SUNY Cortland. Race activities will get underway at 3 pm on Friday while Saturday's festivities will begin at 10 am.
