In her freshman year with Finger Lakes – Essom carried a solid bat with her to the Lady Lakers lineup. In 38 games – the Fairport, NY resident hit .295 from the plate, where she tallied 28 hits on the season. Her bat in 2012 produced 14 RBI while her feet produced 16 runs scored. Listed as a utility player – the sophomore – who is undoubtedly a quality hitter – can also play the field effectively. Last season – as a shortstop – Essom posted a .875 fielding percentage all while tallying 58 put outs and 19 assists. In addition to her having the ability to play the game of softball at an effective level – Essom is a great leader and hard worker both on and off of the field.
