Maddy Joseph Named Assistant Softball Coach

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – A familiar face will be joining the FLCC Softball Program's coaching squad this Spring. Maddy Joseph was named Assistant Coach for the Lakers Softball team and will join first-year Head Coach Julianna Sherman in leading the squad.

Joseph joins the Lakers after a successful Fall season with the FLCC Women's Volleyball team. Joseph helped lead the Lakers to a program-first National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region III Championship. That same squad earned their first trip to the NJCAA Division III National Championship, earning a 7th place finish.

Joseph is no stranger to the diamond, as a former student-athlete of the Lakers, along with a successful two season with the Golden Flyers of Nazareth College. During her time with the Lakers, Joseph posted a .310 batting average adding 22 hits and 14 RBIs in 25 games.

Joseph upped her game as a member of the Golden Flyers, increasing her batting average to .326 to go along with 8 home runs and 33 RBIs in two seasons. Joseph's experience on the diamond should bring value to the Lakers squad, "Maddy is coming in with a wealth of knowledge from her previous experience as an athlete at FLCC and Nazareth, Stated Head Coach Julianna Sherman, Sherman added, "she is super dedicated to, and passionate about athletics which makes her a great addition to this team, I don't think I could have a better person by my side to take this season on".

The Lakers coaching staff has a goal to bring the best out of their student athletes, "we both have a competitive edge and growth mindset that we plan to propel these girls forward with. I'm happy she's on board, and I am happy to have her here" stated Head Coach Julianna Sherman.

"I am very excited for the opportunity to join the coaching staff for the Women's Softball team at FLCC, I was able to be a part of a historic volleyball season in 2021 as the assistant for the Women's program", stated Assistant Coach Maddy Joseph. Joseph has high hopes for the Lakers, "I am ready to take the softball program to new heights under the direction of Julianna. I'm also eager to get outside and start using our beautiful new athletic complex".

Joseph's experience combined with Head Coach Julianna Sherman's leadership should prime the Lakers for a successful 2022 Spring Season. Both coaches have high hopes to bring the program to the next level, while getting the most out of their student-athletes.
