Seelye Named Region III Athlete of the Week
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - For the second-straight week a Lakers Softball student-athlete has been named National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), Region III, Athlete of the Week. Two-way player Reagan Seelye (Elmira Heights, N.Y./ Elmira) was named Athlete of the Week for her performance over the weekend against the Jayhawks of Jamestown Community College.
Seelye has excelled at the circle and the plate this season, at the pitchers mound, Seelye has posted a 2-1 record, to go along with 18 strikeouts, good for a 3.68 ERA. At the plate, Seelye adds an impressive mark of 15 for 20 in her at bats on the season, good for an efficient .750 batting average and .800 on-base percentage. Seelye has knocked in 17 RBIs on the season to go along with 3 doubles and 1 triple, overall on the season.
Seelye would put together an impressive showing in the Lakers doubleheader sweep over the Jayhawks of Jamestown Community College, putting the Lakers Region III record at 2-0. In an extra inning 1st game, Seelye would pitch a full 9 inning game striking out 10 of the 35 batters faced. In the same game at the plate, Seelye would knock in the game winning run to secure the victory for Lakers. Overall, Seelye would put together an impressive performance hitting on the day, going 6 for 7 with a double, triple and 7 RBIs in the series sweep.
Seelye and the Lakers return to play on April 2nd when the team travels to Erie Community College to take on the Kats in a 1 PM/3 PM doubleheader.
