Lakers Sweep Hornets on the Road

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College went on the road Sunday afternoon and picked up a big doubleheader win over the host SUNY Broome Hornets. The Lakers would come away with tight, 9-7 and 8-7 victories to earn the sweep on the afternoon.

Game 1

Caitlynne Marczyk (Livonia, N.Y./ Livonia), and Hannah Hoffman (Bath, N.Y./ Haverling) all picked up 1 RBI in the game, followed by 2 RBIs from Skyllar Weigert (Canandaigua, N.Y./ Cananadaigua) and 3 RBIs Kalyska Payne (Savona, N.Y./ Campbell-Savona)

Reagan Seelye (Elmira Heights, N.Y./ Elmira) pitched a full game, striking out 4 batters.

Game 2

Clare Kingsfield (Forestville, N.Y./ Forestville) and Deanna Palmer (Auburn, N.Y./ Auburn) each picked up 1 RBI, while Caitlynne Marczyk and Skyllar Weigert each put together impressive games with 2 RBIs to come away with the win.

 

Kalyska Payne pitched 6 innings, stirking out 5 batters, and Reagan Seelye would come in and pitch 1 inning of relief allowing 1 hit, to close out the game.

Now, the Lakers (9-13) await a doubleheader matchup against the Generals of Herkimer College Friday, April 29th under the lights in a 6 PM first pitch. The Lakers will also be celebrating 8 graduating sophomores in the anticipated matchup.
