BATAVIA, N.Y. – The Lakers were on the road Thursday night in Batavia, N.Y. for a matchup with the Cougars of Genesee Community College. The Lakers looked to even the series after dropping their first matchup of the season by a score of 70-40. The Cougars came away with the season sweep, with a final score of 63-29.
The Lakers relied on Freshman Hayley Andersen (Penn Yan, N.Y./ Penn Yan) in the scoring column, with Andersen adding 13 points. Andersen also added 2 assists, 5 rebounds and 1 steal to her total.
Freshman Mackenzie Johnson-Boser (Dansville, N.Y./ Dansville) had a game on the board, pulling in a game-high 13, while adding 7 points to her total. Teammate Ericka Moody (Lyons, N.Y./ Lyons) joined Boser, grabbing 12 of her own rebounds, while dishing out an assist and blocking a shot on the night.
Freshman Mary Ellen Querrie (Romulus, N.Y./ Romulus) added 7 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist while teammate Abby Nelson (North Rose, N.Y./ North Rose-Wolcott) added 2 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists in an overall effort.
The Lakers return to play this weekend, February 5th in a Mid-State Athletic Conference matchup with the Red Barons of Corning Community College.
