Lady Lakers Capture Region III Division III Title

Herkimer, NY – The FLCC women's soccer team captured the Region III Division III championship title on Saturday by edging Mohawk Valley Community College, 1-0. Sophomore midfielder Sarah Murphy (Webster) scored the game's only goal for the Lady Lakers (20-0-1). Freshman midfielder and tournament Most Valuable Player Cayli Carmona (Rochester) was credited with the assist (her 27th on the season). Teammates Kristy Kirkpatrick (Irondequoit), Rebecca Giacapuzzi (Merrimack, NH), and Katie Poutre (Macedon) joined Carmona on the All-Tournament team. Head Coach Brandy Cooper has been named Region III Coach of the Year.

With the win, FLCC has earned the opportunity to play in the national tournament this Thursday (11/3) against Monroe College. The game will be held at Tompkins Cortland Community College and is slated for a 1:30 p.m. start.
