As a freshman in 2011: She transitioned smoothly into her first year with the Lady Lakers right from the get go. Burnside was a large part of the glue that kept Finger Lakes defense intact last season. As part of that defensive unit, she was a major reason why the team surrendered just 13 goals all season long. The sophomore provided an intense ability to keep opposing offenses out of her teams’ zone thanks to her willingness to give an immense amount of effort on all possessions when she was on the field. Named one of the three team captains for the 2012 season, she was given the title for the above reasons. Coming off of a season in 2011 where the Lady Lakers went an NJCAA Division III best 21-1-1, Burnside’s desire to lead the team to the national title this season stands higher than ever. Expect the defender to continue being an integral part of the teams’ defense this season. Burnside is currently majoring in nursing.
