As a freshman in 2011: The middle hitter recorded 96 kills, 17 aces, 30 digs, and 26 blocks in year one of her Lady Laker career. The local Canandaigua native and graduate of Canandaigua Academy can expect to see the previously mentioned numbers skyrocket in her sophomore campaign. A tall 6’1” athlete, McCarthy brings a great deal of length and height to her teams’ side of the net. She has the ability to extend plays thanks to her frame. In addition, the sophomore has the leadership skills that define that of a champion. She gives Finger Lakes great insurance from a leadership standpoint. The Lady Lakers are assured of a quality veteran with the return of McCarthy. The second-year player should be featured quite heavily in the flow of the teams’ game plans this season.
