Preseason Preview: Women's Volleyball
Canandaigua, N.Y. – The FLCC women's volleyball team enters 2022 with high hopes and standards following a historic 2021 campaign. Head coach Andrew Solomon would help lead the Lakers to the program's first-ever National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region III Championship. The Lakers' historic feat would lead them to a 7th place finish in the NJCAA Division III National Championships. The Lakers open the year ranked as the #7 team at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), Division III level.

Brandy Morrison (Macedon, N.Y./ Palmyra-Macedon) – St. John Fisher University (D3)
Key Returners
Three student-athletes returning for their Sophomore seasons will look to provide guidance, expectations, and leadership for a large Freshman class. All three returners saw time on the starting rotation throughout the season.
Emer O'Brien (Canandaigua, N.Y./ Canandaigua) played the position of libero in 2021, adding 1 kill, 12 assists, 3 service aces, and 310 digs with an average of 3.26 digs per set.
Kayla Fetcie (Victor, N.Y./ Victor) played considerable time as a middle hitter and setter, accumulating 69 kills, 71 assists, 44 service aces, 82 digs, 8 blocks, and 24 block assists.
Meghan Johnson (Newark, N.Y./ Newark) played 84 sets as an outside hitter in the Fall of 2021, adding 18 kills, 1 assist, 24 service aces, 117 digs, and 1 block.
Incoming Freshman
Fresh off from the most successful season in program history, the Lakers are determined to continue to build on their success. Head coach Andrew Solomon explained his expectations going into this season, "we hope to continue putting a strong team on the floor as we have, and with any luck hopefully, make another run for a regional title in 2022 and finish towards the top of the region again".
With strong competition in Region III, the Lakers will rely upon leadership from their three returners, "they know what it is like and they understand the system…I expect them to set the standard and expectations for the rest of the team, team cohesion is going to be important, we have so much talent coming in and it comes down to mixing that talent with good team chemistry" stated Solomon. Entering 2022, the Lakers have new expectations as a program, "I think we are in a really good spot right now, and we hope to build off from last year, and to build off from that going forward" added coach Solomon. Now, the Lakers await another highly anticipated season going in 2022.
