MONROE COUNTY, NY. - The Finger Lakes Community College Lakers (1-7, 0-0 MSAC) lost a close game this afternoon to the Monroe Community College Tribunes, 14-13. The Tribunes broke a ninth inning 13-13 tie with a walk off hit to seal the victory.
Leading the way for the Lakers in the losing effort was freshman shortstop Eddie Tagliareni (Mexico, NY) with four hits and four RBIs. Freshmen Chris Fazio (first base, Staten Island, NY) and Branden Rhodes (catcher, Victor, NY) each contributed three hits apiece for Finger Lakes.
Justin Stowell (first base, sophomore, Horseheads, NY), Anthony Gonzalez (infielder, freshman, Greece, NY), and Corey Cowen (outfielder, freshman, West Edmeston, NY) each added two hits apiece for the Lakers.
On the mound, Finger Lakes used a plethora of pitchers this afternoon. Highlighting the Lakers pitching staff in today's loss was freshman Billy Kosachook (Ontario, NY). He struck out 3 Tribunes and allowed no earned runs in two innings worth of work.
Finger Lakes will play Monroe again (this time at home) in its next set of games (which are scheduled for Tuesday 3/27). Game one is expected to get underway at 1:00 pm. Game two will follow at 3:00 pm.
