Baseball - Lakers Outfielder Cowen Named Second Team All-Region

CANANDAIGUA, NY. -- Finger Lakes Community College right fielder Corey Cowen (West Edmeston, NY) has been named Second Team All-Region for (NJCAA) Region III Division III. The freshman assembled a productive first year in a Lakers uniform from an offensive standpoint. Cowen was one of the Lakers leading hitters in 2012. He was second on the team in hitting with his .390 (53 for 136) batting average. Cowen's 53 hits solidified him in the top spot for most hits on Finger Lakes roster this season.

Along with his strong hitting came solid run production. Cowen recorded 28 RBIs and scored 31 runs. He tacked on 1 home run and stole a team-high 29 bases to go along with his gaudy batting average and solid run production. His 29 thefts put him in the thirteenth position in the nation at season's end for steals.

Cowen not only served as a vital piece to the Lakers offense, he also posed as a great asset in the field for the team. He was a gem in the right corner of the outfield, committing just three errors all season long. Cowen finished 2012 with a fielding percentage of .970.

All of his numbers came in a total of 43 games.
