Kaleb Schaner in the Sophomore Spotlight

Kaleb Schaner in the Sophomore Spotlight

Sophomore Kaleb Schaner has been featured in October’s sophomore spotlight. Schaner is a member of the men’s soccer team, majoring in conversation law at Finger Lakes Community College (FLCC). He was nominated for the spotlight by his coach, Vince Correa.

When asked about his time at FLCC, Schaner mentioned he was thankful to his teachers for helping him through his classes. “I also am grateful for the athletic department at FLCC,” said Schaner. “Our coaches and athletic staff are on us more about excelling in the classroom than ever before.”

As a student-athlete at FLCC, Schaner has developed important time management and leadership skills. He reflected that in order to be successful in both the classroom and soccer field, he must manage his time by focusing on schoolwork during the weeknights and playing soccer on the weekends.

Schaner was extremely proud to reflect on his greatest accomplishment while at FLCC. “I am proud that I will graduate and obtain a degree. It is proof that if you have a strong work ethic, you can make it to the next college and improve yourself.”

“It was a pleasure having Kaleb on the team this year. I put a lot of responsibility on Kaleb to be a leader for our young players and he went above and beyond my expectations. He is a dedicated and hardworking individual that constantly gives 100% in anything he is doing,” said head coach Vince Correa. “Kaleb will continue to be successful in his future endeavors and will be a great advocate for our program.”

Schaner plans on graduating from FLCC in December and has aspirations of transferring to SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF), where he wishes to continue his soccer career.

“I truly am thankful for my time at FLCC,” said Schaner. “I want people to remember me as the guy that kept everything light and funny, while also being hard working and achieving all of my goals.”
