Lakers Surge in Second Half to Earn First Win of the Season

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College men's basketball team picked up its first win of the 2025-26 season on Tuesday night, defeating Nazareth University JV, 85-70, behind a 51-point second half and a breakout performance from Ian Florence (Rochester, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit).

Florence was electric from beyond the arc, hitting 7-of-12 from deep on his way to a career-high 28 points. The Lakers trailed 36-34 at the half but stormed out of the locker room with an energized pace, outscoring Nazareth 51-34.

Damari Davis (Rochester, N.Y./University Prep) followed with 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals. George Spinelli (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) added 12 points and 5 assists, while Ryan Clark (Orlando, FL./South Lake) contributed 7 points and 4 rebounds.

Off the bench, Kyle Brooks (Miami, FL./Palm Bay) provided a lift with 5 points and 3 rebounds, and Hunter Martin (Auburn, N.Y./Union Springs) added 4 points and 4 boards.

Looking Ahead:
The Lakers (1-1) will return home this Wednesday, November 12th, at 6 PM for a conference matchup with Cayuga Community College.
